Sun Microsystems has bought the opensource database solution, MySql for a hefty $1bn. Here is the snippet:
"The Santa
Clara, California-based systems vendor has been involved in the
community-based development process for many years, of course, through
Java and has been offering Linux on X.86 servers since the 2002/2003
timeframe. It also now has OpenSolaris, the open source version of its
proprietary flavor of Unix.
Then there is its open source app
server GlassFish and the Java Composite Application Platform Suite
(Java CAPS) for integrating legacy and packaged apps into an existing
SOA infrastructure without extensive coding, which came from its
SeeBeyond acquisition."
There are many possible uses for
virtual displays. Drivers or pilots could see a vehicle's speed
projected onto the windshield. Video-game companies could use the
contact lenses to completely immerse players in a virtual world without
restricting their range of motion. And for communications, people on
the go could surf the Internet on a midair virtual display screen that
only they would be able to see.
Thanks to my friend Tomas on the heads up! Well Mac has launched the new MacBook Air notebook. It costs a whooping 1,799 dollars and has a few gripes...like not having a replaceable battery! (Thats a pretty nasty gripe I must admit) For more information on the news, you can click the Source Link!
Alex Navarro, yet another long time reviewer for the
gaming website Gamespot, has decided to leave. Kotaku learned in a phone call
with Torres earlier today that Navarro, who many will remember from his
hilarious video review of Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, had given his notice
yesterday, with the rest of staff told his last day of GameSpot editorial duties
would occur on January 24th. There's no word on the reasons behind Navarro's
departure, however, this is the second reviewer for the site to announce his
departure in less than a week. Frank Provo has also annouced his departure from
Gamespot earlier this month. His reasons were because of his disagreement with
management over the firing in late November of Gamespot executive editor Jeff
Gerstmann. Source
